EL & Flash Testing
EL and Flash Testing for Solar Plant Health
Electroluminescence (EL) Testing: This technique involves applying a current to a solar panel, causing it to emit infrared light, which is then captured by a specialized camera. The resulting image reveals internal defects like microcracks, shunts, and inactive areas, providing valuable insights into the panel’s structural integrity and potential long-term performance issues, ultimately ensuring quality control and reliability.
Flash Testing: Flash testing simulates sunlight by using a high-intensity flash lamp to illuminate a solar panel, allowing for the measurement of its electrical output, including voltage and current. This test determines the panel’s power rating, efficiency, and other performance parameters under standard test conditions, verifying that it meets industry specifications and ensuring accurate performance assessment.
Visit to Aditya Birla Renewals for EL and Flash Testing
From January 31st to February 16th, the Solvix Solar team embarked on a crucial mission: rigorous solar site testing for Aditya Birla’s burgeoning solar plant infrastructure. Utilizing specialized mobile van, they travelled diverse locations, including Pipardi, Patan, Kumbhana, Rojasar, Malotra, Kachchh, Bodaki, Amreli, ensuring the integrity and performance of the installed solar modules. The focus was on meticulous Electroluminescence (EL) and flash testing, crucial for identifying defects and assessing the power output of each panel. EL testing, in particular, illuminated hidden cracks and imperfections invisible to the naked eye, while flash testing accurately measured the modules’ power generation under simulated sunlight conditions.
The mobile van, a self-contained laboratory , allowed for on-site analysis, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency. In the varied terrains of Pipardi and Amreli, the Solvix team meticulously documented each panel’s performance, providing Aditya Birla with invaluable data for optimizing plant efficiency and longevity.
